EVALUATION, SCREENING SYSTEM (ASSESS)
The ASSESS program is a
comprehensive staffing service. ASSESS allows clients to focus their
resources and energy on core business issues and places the responsibility of day-to-day
staffing activities on Verion. High employee turnover is costly and
can be devastating to employers, for example:
- Money spent on advertising, hiring and training employees not
suited, interested or willing to work within your environment
- Money spent on scrap or reworked product due to employee
turnover and inefficiency
- Money spent on slipped schedules
- Money spent relying on outside resources who lack industry
expertise
ASSESS is designed to maximize the
employee/job match and, thus, minimize the impact of employee turnover. ASSESS
allows you to focus your energy and resources on core business issues in lieu of the
perpetual employee hiring/turnover issues. The Realistic Job Preview is a critical step in
the process because it provides "hands-on" exposure to the job environment,
expectations and criteria before an individual completes an application. The remaining
steps are optional at the employers discretion.

Advertising:
Promotes the jobs through newspaper advertising or other means; i.e., radio,
educational institutions, government agencies/services. The employers may choose to
provide their own advertising or utilize Verion Staffings assistance.
Screening
Various types of screening processes can be implemented at this point. Some
clients prefer to use a telephone screen that provides applicants with basic information
regarding work hours, expectations, hiring process and other pertinent information.
Other clients prefer an initial interview or some type of initial testing. The screening
activity portion is designed to specifically address each clients needs.
Realistic Job Preview
This process places individuals in a controlled, simulated work environment and
provides an opportunity to "preview" the job. The Realistic Job Preview instills
job expectations, work ethics and job performance requirements prior to the formal
application/hiring process. Individuals have the freedom to "self select" out of
the process; thus eliminating wasted time and cost to the employer. Employee turnover
problems are tackled up front. Only the select groups who have met all the employers
criteria move on to the formal application stage.
Basic Skills Assessment
This segment of ASSESS may be conducted either before or after the Realistic Job
Preview and may be administered by either the employer or Verion
Staffing.
Validated or industry-specific tests may be administered. The employer normally
establishes the passing criteria.
Employer-Specific Screening/Testing
The successful individuals who have made it to this stage have: (1) demonstrated
a genuine interest in the job, (2) gained a good understanding of the job and the job
expectations, and (3) gained a degree of confidence in their ability to learn or perform
the job. This is the available pool of applicants to which the employer will devote time,
energy and resources in the formal hiring process. Verion Staffing is available to
assist the employer with screening and testing as needed.
Interview
Most employers prefer to conduct their own interviews; however,
Verion Staffing is available to assist in this area.
Hire
The employer typically handles this step. Verion Staffing is available to
provide assistance.
